Ben Arthur Harrison, known as Ben to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, in Austin, Texas, after a recurrence of lymphoma. Born on June 22, 1937, in Alvin, Texas, Ben's journey through life was marked by his analytical mind, his courage in the face of adversity, and his handyman skills that could fix almost anything.
Ben earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at The University of Texas in 1971. He started his career as a Programmer and System Analyst for the Data Processing Department at The University of Texas in 1971.
Ben was an avid golfer, often found on the greens, enjoying the challenge of the sport, and the camaraderie of fellow golfers. Fall Saturdays were reserved for cheering on University of Texas football.
Ben leaves behind his beloved wife, Suzanne Harrison, who has been his partner for the past 30 years. His legacy will continue through his son, Arthur Ray Harrison, and through the lives of his grandchildren, Colton Ray Harrison, Kayla Elizabeth Harrison, and Luke Arthur Harrison. Ben's memory will also be honored by the memory of his son, Curtis Ray Harrison, who predeceased him.
Those who knew Ben will remember him as a man of great courage. Even during his battle with lymphoma, he demonstrated strength and a positive outlook that inspired everyone around him. His analytical approach to life's challenges, whether fixing a leaky faucet or navigating his illness, showed his resilience and resourcefulness.
Ben's life journey from Alvin to Austin was filled with laughter, learning, and love. As we reflect on his 87 years among us, we find comfort in knowing that he lived fully and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace, Ben Arthur Harrison.
Private services will be held at a future date.

Ben was one of the very best. He was kind, gentle and considerate. Ben always brought a smile when playing golf, he had no tolerance for slow play so often he would be putting while waiting for everyone to catch up. He would always be eager to engage in spirited debate over a myriad of issues but no matter how different his views might be you always left the conversation with a smile and a warm embrace. I loved Ben and his memory will always warm my heart

I will always remember Ben for being joyful and happy. I couldn“t help but feel excited and carefree when playing a round of golf with him. Very lucky to have known him and hope he is at peace.

Ben: I will miss your comradeship and wonderful intellect. We had wonderful times playing together as partners in interclub events and in our Sunday opens. Rest in peace. Bruce Levy

Ben will be missed dearly, especially on the golf course! I remember Ben and I were paired up in the Lost Creek cup match and we destroyed our opponent! I enjoyed always playing golf with Ben, because he ensured we would have a quick round! No dilly dallying with Ben, you will be missed! From John Mangione.
