Benita Hallquist - Cook Obituary

Benita "Jo" Hallquist – Cook, 89, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Born November 29, 1934, in Polk, NE, the daughter of Rodney I. and Ree E. (Seymour) Anderson. Graduate of East High School, Class of 1952. Jo married Raymond Hallquist on September 20, 1952. He predeceased her on December 6, 2004. She later married Thomas W. Cook on October 7, 2006. He predeceased her on October 15, 2023. Jo was a secretary for the Chaplain at SwedishAmerican Hospital for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family, caring for her dog (Angel), knitting, and gambling.
Survived by her daughters, Jodi (Kelly Hildreth) Carlson-Huffman and Heidi (Joe) Petrow; step-children, Thomas M. (Sharon) Cook, Fred W. (Bonnie) Cook, Debi (Shawn) Bates, Randy A. (Laurie) Cook, Suzanne M. (Tim) Ewald, Rhonda L. (Rich) Youngberg; grandchildren, Holly Carlson, Kiefer Petrow, Seth Carlson, Kabel Petrow, Korbyn (Charles) Bolden, and Logan Huffman; step-grandchildren, Tracy, Jamie, Ryan, Erik, Cherea', Benjamin, Chandra, Bryce, Lexi, Richard, and Ragan; great-grandchild, Gunner Bolden; step-great grandchildren, Liam, Parker, Levi, Luke, Ayden, Keegan, Cameron, Randy, and Skye; sister, Jeanne (Bob) Lindman; and several nieces, nephews, and step-nieces and nephews. Also, predeceased by her parents; and Angel (her dog).
Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary, 111 N. 1st St., Rockford, IL 61107.
