David Allen

David A. Allen, 90, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025. He was born November 28, 1934, in Rockford; the son of Royce A. and Marie I. (Hamilton) Allen. David married Patricia A. Carter August 23, 1958, at Messiah Lutheran Church, in Rockford. He was employed as a machinist at Sundstrand and Bourn & Koch Machine. David was a devoted husband and father, who loved his family. He was not a man of many words, but he was a man of many talents. David had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling "I'm so short" jokes. He loved adventures and trips and always enjoyed experiencing new things. David had a great memory. He was much loved by all who knew him.

David is survived by his children, Alice (MSgt. Craig) Larson of Rockford and Susan Blackshear of Concord, NC; grandchildren, David Larson, Kirsten Larson, Anna (Dylan) Wingler, and Royce Blackshear; brother, Richard Allen; and sister, Barbara (Dennis) Franke. Predeceased by his wife, Patricia A. Allen (2016); parents, sister, Elizabeth Sundberg; and brother, Donald Allen.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave. Rockford, IL 61104. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will be in Willwood Burial Park.
