Cecilio Baraibar was born in Yajalón, Chiapas, Mexico on August 2nd, 1936. He was the second oldest of seven children and completed his education in the Seminary of Montezuma in Las Vegas, New Mexico. While at Montezuma, he excelled in sports and played every sport imaginable.
He obtained his Master's degree from what was then College of St. Thomas. In 1979, he married the love of his life, Margarita, in Guadalajara, Mexico, and they both moved to St. Paul, Minnesota to raise their family. They welcomed a son, John, and a daughter, Patricia.
He loved biking, eating out, fixing his car, studying history and Chinese, as well as gardening.
His values and teachings of love for family and friends, kindness, respect, humility, and honesty will live on in his loved ones.
Cecilio is survived by his wife, Margarita; his son, John; his daughter, Patricia; his half-sister, Elizabeth; and his brother, José Luis. He will live on in our hearts forever.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 2119 Stillwater Ave E, St Paul, MN 55119, with visitation from 9 AM until the time of the mass. Interment to immediately follow the mass at Union Cemetery.
Cecilio Baraibar nació en Yajalón, Chiapas, México el 2 de agosto de 1936. Fue el segundo mayor de siete hermanos y completó su educación en el Seminario de Moctezuma en Las Vegas, Nuevo México. Mientras estuvo en Moctezuma, se destacó en los deportes y practicó todos los deportes imaginables.
Obtuvo su maestría en lo que entonces era el Colegio de Santo Tomás. En 1979, se casó con el amor de su vida, Margarita, en Guadalajara, México, y ambos se mudaron a St. Paul, Minnesota para criar a su familia.
Tuvieron un hijo, John, y una hija, Patricia. Le encantaba andar en bicicleta, salir a comer, arreglar su auto, estudiar historia y el idoma chino, así como la jardinería.
Sus valores y enseñanzas de amor por la familia y los amigos, la amabilidad, el respeto, la humildad y la honestidad vivirán en sus seres queridos.
Le sobreviven su esposa, Margarita; su hijo, Juan; su hija, Patricia; su media hermana, Elizabeth; y su hermano, José Luis. Vivirá en nuestros corazones para siempre.
Se llevará a cabo una misa fúnebre a las 10 a. m. el viernes 17 de noviembre de 2023 en la Iglesia del Santísimo Sacramento, 2119 Stillwater Ave E, St Paul, MN 55119, con visitas desde las 9 a. m. hasta la hora de la misa. El entierro seguirá inmediatamente a la misa en Union Cemetery.
