Chun Ja Cho

 

 

A love of family and God was always felt in the presence of our Umma and Halmony, Chun Ja Cho. She had a smile full of light and a laugh full of happiness. When you shared in those smiles and joined in that laughter, you could feel the goodness in her heart and the love she felt for you.

Born on the 23rd of December, 1938, in Gohk Sung, Jul La Nam Do, South Korea, Chun Ja experienced great hardships and difficulties, as well as great triumphs and joys. Throughout her life, in times of challenge or celebration, she always prayed, with gratitude and faith. She was a great example to all of us of remaining steadfast and cheerful, in all circumstances.

She now is reunited with many loving members of family: her mother, Kyung Bok Park, her father, Bong Soo Cho, her husband, Yong Jin Kim, and her son-in-law, James Scott Rowley. She is survived by her children, Tae Il Kim and his wife Huh Jung Ok, Sung Eun Rowley, Sung Hee Kim, Shauni Berry and her husband Archie Berry, and Jana Lampert and her husband Mark Lampert. She is also survived by eight grandchildren – five grandsons and three granddaughters – and four great grandchildren – two great granddaughters, one great grandson, and one on the way.

Throughout her life, spent in Seoul, South Korea and Bountiful, Utah, Chun Ja’s beautiful voice could be heard, filling our homes and hearts with song, her choruses of hallelujahs, her unique renditions of popular tunes. She was passionate about studying the Bible and English, learning new words diligently up until the last day of her life. She loved the bright colors of flowers and getting dressed up as beautiful as any iris, lily, cosmos, or rose. She welcomed us from work or school or play with warmth, though maybe not as warm as her bedroom, electric blanket and heat turned up all the way. She dreamed of train travel. She was an excellent cook. She loved the taste of fresh fruit.

On the 13th of November, 2022, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she passed away peacefully in her sleep. We will all miss her. We will all think about her during our own challenges and our own triumphs. But most of all, we will all remember her, honor her, and continue to feel her guidance and example in our lives. The great love that she gave to each of us, we return to her. God be with you, our Umma, our Halmony, Chun Ja Cho, until we meet again.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. Bountiful, Utah where friends may visit the family from 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Interment will follow at the Bountiful City Cemetery 2224 S. 200 W. Bountiful, Utah.
