We gather here to celebrate the heavenly home going of a beloved child of God, Constance, J. (Leiter) Stone, 87, affectionately known as Connie to those that knew her well. Born on the nineteenth of July, 1936, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Connie was warm-hearted and caring and welcomed many to her home. Her door was always open. On June 22, 2024, The Lord called her to her eternal home. She lived in West Townsend and peacefully passed away at home while sleeping.
Connie was a devoted wife to her late husband Kenneth Stone Sr., and a loving mother to Kenneth Stone Jr. and his wife Cynthia, to the late Harry Allen Stone and his wife Linda, and to Rhonda Richard and her husband Thomas. In addition, she was a beloved grandmother to Kenneth III, Kristopher, Michelle, Allen, Stephen & Matthias, and a loving great-grandmother to eleven wonderful children.
Connie's sister Carolyn Foose from Pennsylvania survives her as well as brother-in-law Harry Stone and his wife Ruth, sister-in-law Judy Stone, and several nieces and nephews. Cherishing her family and spending quality time with them brought her happiness.
Serving others was Connie's life purpose. A testament to The Lord's teaching to love our neighbors. Once she finished high school at William Penn High School, she married the love of her life, and served as wife and mother and eventually entered the workforce as a nurse's aide, bus driver, and cook, brightening lives with her infectious smile, gentle heart, and made many delicious meals. In addition, when visiting Pennsylvania, she collaborated with her sister, Carolyn, on several service projects, crafting various items for service members and people in other nations.
Many hobbies and passions filled Connie's life. One of these passions was singing. She found joy in singing and spent many years sharing her gift with churches and rest homes. Swimming was also something she enjoyed for many years and possessed a great artistic talent with drawing and painting as well. Connie enjoyed playing mahjong and solitaire on her iPad, talking with her sister through FaceTime, loved watching game shows, shopping and playing bingo, whether it was at the senior center or with her family who shared her enthusiasm.
As we reflect on her life, as she loved The Lord and the quoting of scripture, she and our dad would quote Psalm 23 almost daily. Another verse that comes to mind is from Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ that gives me strength". She lived that word, drawing strength from her faith to overcome the specific challenges she was going through and desired to be a source of strength for others.
Connie's legacy is not one of material possessions but of love, laughter, and an infectious joy, humor, smile and kindness she shared with everyone she met. Her spirit, hope and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched and will forever be with her for all eternity. She walked through life with grace and left behind footsteps of love for us to follow.
As we say, until we meet again, to our mom, we will try not to dwell on her departure but will rejoice in knowing that she has gone to her eternal home to be with Jesus and has the eternal embrace of our heavenly Father. She has fought the good fight and finished the race and she has kept the faith. Now she has in store for her a crown of righteousness which The Lord will award to her - and not only her, but all those who have longed for His appearing and trusted in Him as Lord and Savior.
So, as we celebrate this beautiful woman, Constance J. (Leiter) Stone, a woman with unwavering faith and boundless love, may she rest in the glorious peace of the Almighty and may her memory be a blessing to us all. We love you mama!
