David Lawrence Carmichael, Sr., was born a premie and the eldest of 7 children to Major and Elsie Carmichael on February 11, 1950. Both parents preceded him in death. He was raised in a Christian home, and he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and later joined Washington Metropolitan AME Zion Church.
He was educated in the St. Louis Public school system having graduated from his beloved alma mater, Beaumont High School in 1969.
In January 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Howard. Up until his last days, he was such a loving husband. To this union, 2 children were born, David Jr., known as "Lil Dave" and Erika known as "Niki".
David was employed with Continental Can where he moved through the ranks and was promoted to Supervisor. Continental Can later became Sonoco and after the buy-out his job moved him to Edison, New Jersey, where he worked with the company until his retirement in 1999, after serving 30+ years.
To know David, you know that he loved a good time, hanging with family/friends. He loved to dress up and go out with his wife and friends. In his later years, his basement was his "man cave" that sometimes turned into the party room. He was always open to a fun time, with music, card playing and fun.
David transitioned from this earthly world on Friday, November 18, 2022. He leaves to cherish and uphold his legacy his devoted wife of 52 years, Sandra; two children, Lil Dave and Niki; one Grandson, DJ; two bonus Grandsons, Lil James and Javon; two Granddaughters, Jayla and Jasmine; one Great Granddaughter, Jamie, three Great-Grandsons; Kody, Karie, and Prince, 3 brothers, Fred (Nona) of Tacoma, WA; Mike, and James (Netta) of St. Louis, MO; sister in law Lois of St. Louis, 1 uncle Ricky of Las Vegas, NV, 14 nieces and nephews, close friends Tyrone Smith, Tyrone Harris, Wilmer Mayfield; and a host of family and friends.
