Delores Bradley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perry Funeral Home - Newark from Jan. 14 to Jan. 15, 2022.
Delores Helen Bradley, was born in Newark, New Jersey, on December 22, 1930, to the union of the late Wilson James Allen II and Sarah J. (McBride) Allen. She was the oldest of three children and accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age at the Old Tabernacle Church of God In Christ (later named Wells Cathedral Church of God In Christ). Growing up in the Old Tabernacle, under the pastoral guidance of Bishop James A. Wells, she was active in the Sunday School, choir, and the hospitality ministry.
Delores graduated from Central High School in Newark, New Jersey, and shortly thereafter was united in holy matrimony to Deacon Simon Bradley, also a member of the Old Tabernacle. The late Bishop James A. Wells united them on September 25, 1949. The Bradleys were initially blessed with two sons, Alton and Charles Ronald. Years later their blessings increased with the addition of yet another son, Kenneth Earl.
Delores had a few jobs over the years, such as: factory worker, teacher's aide, and a nurse's aide. Although these jobs served necessary purposes, her primary calling, which gave her the most satisfaction, was the rearing and guiding of her three sons. Among her supporting activities for her sons were: member of the Parent Teacher Association, Cub Scout den mother, supporter/participant at all sporting activities, and a willing ear and confidant at all times.
Delores continued her church work at the later named Wells Cathedral Church of God In Christ. She worked for a time in the church administrative office, she assisted with food preparation in the kitchen, she continued singing in the choir, and participated in the functioning of Young People's Willing Workers (Y.P.W.W.).
In July 2007, Delores and her husband relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, to live with their oldest son and daughter-in-law, Alton and Doris. In 2010, her husband, Simon, who affectionately called her 'Little Bit', preceded her in death. She was able to continue leading a full life for the next 11 years. She had an opportunity to travel to places she had not seen before, experience foods she had never before tried, and enjoy her twilight years in the warmth of Florida.
Early Friday morning, January 7th 2022, an angel delivered a message to Delores that read: "Well done, My good and faithful servant." She now resides in a house not made by hands, and leaves to cherish her memory:
Three sons and their wives; Alton and Doris (Jacksonville, FL), Pastor C. Ronald and Jemma (Lancaster, PA), Kenneth and Dawn (North Plainfield, NJ). Five grandchildren; Jasmine Bolling, Ian Bradley, Nia Bradley, Kenneth Bradley Jr., and Zane Bradley. One great grandchild; Simone Stockton. Two life-long friends; Sis. Mildred White and Sis. Beatrice McCloud.
Sister Delores Bradley is gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
