Floyd Lee Bradley, 82, passed away quietly and peacefully on December 4, 2025, in Topeka. Floyd was born on December 6, 1943, in
Alamogordo, New Mexico to parents Dorotha and Floyd Conley Bradley. He attended schools in Seymour, Missouri and Pittsburg, Kansas.
Floyd joined the United States Army in 1961 as a military police officer stationed at Fort Clayton in the Panama Canal Zone. He was Honorably Discharged in January 1964, returning to Pittsburg and reuniting with the love of his life, Marilyn Sue Pipkin. They were soon married on October 24, 1964.
In January 1965, Floyd joined the Pittsburg Police Department as a patrolman where he remained until 1975, rising to the rank of Captain of Detectives. During this time, he was invited to join the 97th Class of the FBI National Academy, graduating on June 20, 1974.
On December 2, 1975, Floyd became Chief of Police for Fort Scott, Kansas remaining in that position until October 19, 1979, when he fulfilled his dream of becoming a Special Agent with the Kansas Bureau of Investigations. He was stationed in Hutchinson, Kansas until transferring to Topeka, where he held positions of Agent in Charge of Organized Crime, then Agent in Charge of Narcotics. Floyd retired from KBI on June 29, 1996.
Floyd, never one to sit still, soon became a fraud investigator for Farm Bureau, a Background Investigator with KBI, a CASA Volunteer and Substitute Teacher until the age of 81, when illness forced him to quit.
Floyd was very active as a Shriner for over 50 years, starting with the Mirza Temple in Pittsburg and holding memberships in the Midian and ISIS Temples before spending the last 35 years in the Arab Shrine in Topeka.
Floyd will be missed by all who knew him for his giving spirit, infectious humor and strong values.
Floyd was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Bradley, parents, Dorotha Newsom (Frank) and Floyd Bradley, and his beloved dog, Bella.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn; son, Brent Bradley (Bonita) of Rago, Kansas; daughter, Dawn Bradley (Jeff) of Topeka; granddaughter, Marrissa Kooser (Daniel) of Topeka; step-grandchildren, Darren, Daphne, Joshua, Jonathan, Theresa, Monica, Crystal, Amber and Nicholas; brother, Roger Newsome (Joyce) of Seymour; and sister, Carla Morpeth of Seymour.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Memorial Service will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2025, at First Baptist Church, 3033 SW MacVicar Ave, Topeka KS 66611.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arab Shrine Travel Fund or Helping Hands Humane Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
