Delores Jane (Compton) Coles

Delores Jane (Crompton) Coles, 95, of Lowman, passed away on October 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 19, 1930, in Hartford, PA, she was the daughter of Burton and Doris (Forsythe) Crompton.

On August 13, 1949, Delores married William Coles. Together they owned and operated Sigsbee’s Food Market in Elmira Heights until 1994. Bill preceded Delores in death on May 6, 1999.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Coles, William “Billy” Coles, Malcolm “Mac” Coles, Michael Coles, and Mark Coles, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, brother Robert “Bob” Crompton.

Delores is predeceased by her parents, Burton and Doris Crompton, daughter, Deborah Coles, husband, William Coles, grandson, Christopher Coles, and daughter-in-law, Anne Coles.

Delores loved birds and spending time with her family. Her favorite time of year was Christmas where everyone gathered at the homestead.

Keeping with Delores’ wishes, she will be buried beside her husband and daughter in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY.

The Coles family has entrusted Delores’ services to Roberts Funeral Home, Inc, Wellsburg, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wellsburg Volunteer Fire Department, CareFirstNY Hospice Care, or ones choice of charity.
