Doreen Ann Martin, age 90, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023, at home.
Doreen was born October 4, 1932, in Monroe, Michigan to the late Fern (Liedel) and Leon Lafen. She is a graduate of St. Mary's Academy and a member of St. Michael's the Archangel Catholic Church. Doreen married her late husband Jesse A. Martin (04/18/2001) on June 20, 1959, and enjoyed 41 years of Marriage together. Doreen was a secretary for the Monroe County Prosecutor's office for over 20 years before she retired. She was a member of St. Michael's Church
In the warmer months Doreen lived outside in her garden. She loved growing plants and flowers with her favorite flower being pansies. In the colder months, she enjoyed doing crafts and sewing. She loved to watch the sports that her children and grandchildren participated in and never missed any of her son's games.
Doreen is survived by sons, Paul and Joel, and daughter, Shelley (Mark) Waltz, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 four legged friends, Frick and Frack.
In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by her brother Daryl Lafen.
Friends and Family may call Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 9am until 10am. The service will take place after the visitation with Pastor Sally Martin officiating all at the Rupp Funeral Home. The committal service will be taking place immediately following the funeral service at St. Joseph's Cemetery, in Monroe. The Rupp Family is honored to be assisting the family of Doreen Martin in their time of need.
