Edward Joseph Benson, of Tampa FL – 98 y.o., passed away on 3/19, the first day of Spring, 2024. Upon his retirement in 1986, from the NYC/MTA, where he worked as a train mechanic and car inspector, Edward realized his dream to relocate to Tampa to be near his late twin sister, Irene. Edward served in the U.S. Navy for six years during WWII and Korea and was a proud veteran. Edward leaves behind three devoted daughters, Joanne, Elizabeth and Theresa, and his devoted nephew Robert Hales and wife Linda. He leaves behind three beloved granddaughters, two sisters, Dottie and Patty, and many nephews and nieces. Edward loved his family and neighborhood. He loved to have fun and sing. He is missed very much.
There will be a celebration of life, to be announced.

One year ago, we said goodbye to my beloved uncle-a man whose laughter could light up the darkest room and whose presence left an indelible mark on our hearts. Today, I remember the stories he told, the warmth of his love for his sister, and the way he made every moment feel special. Though he´s no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the love he shared and the memories we carry. Here´s to you, Uncle... forever missed, forever cherished.

In loving memory of Edward Joseph Benson, a devoted father, Navy veteran, and beloved uncle. His legacy of love and service will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he find eternal peace reunited with his twin sister Irene in heaven. Resting peacefully at Long Island National Cemetery alongside his cherished wife Florence. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will always be remembered with love and gratitude.
