Edward Joseph Dowd Jr, age 78, of Canton, MI passed away peacefully at his home on July 1, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Edward was born in Detroit, MI on April 20, 1945, to Edward Sr and Angela Dowd. He was a proud graduate of St. Mary's of Redford where he played baseball and was an all-state swimmer and diver. After high school, Ed spent time in the Seminary until he made his way to Eastern Michigan University graduating with a Bachelors in business management. Ed married the love of his life Beth Croteau on July 28, 1979. Together they raised three daughters and went on to enjoy seven grandchildren. After 34 years of service, Ed retired from All State Motor Club. He devoted his life to his strong faith, family and friends. Ed will always be remembered for his gregarious nature and ability to fill your heart with a simple handshake. Edward is survived by his wife, Beth Dowd (Croteau); his children Meagan Kaweicki (Collin), Erin Dowd (Jeff Duchesne), and Molly Landis (Nick); his grandchildren, Audrey (17), Brady (15), Violet (13), Charlotte (6), Breslin (4), Miles (2), and Hannah (6 months); his sisters Mary Diponio (David), Anne Kott (Ron), and Angela Kott ( Paul); Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his brothers Thomas Patrick, Paul, and John. Visitation at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi, 248-348-1800 on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Sunday, July 9, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 6 PM, with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Instate Monday, July 10, 2023 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Road, Canton from 10:00 AM until time of funeral liturgy 11:00 AM. The family is grateful to Angela Hospice and the care they provided, especially nurse Courtney. Memorial donations may be made to Angela Hospice
