Marion Dowd Obituary

Marion Kathleen McCoy Dowd of Aberdeen Township passed away on October 6, 2025. She was 93. She lived a good long life and died at home surrounded by loved ones. Marion is predeceased by her husband Roy, her son Roy Jr., three sisters (Shirley Barrett of Congers, NY; Elaine McPartland of Princeton, NJ; Kathleen Sullivan of Rockaway, NY) and a brother (Edward McCoy of NY, NY.)
She is survived by her daughter Colleen (Jim), her son Timothy (Ann), her daughter-in-law Chanya, five grandchildren (Daniel, Mae, Matthew, Maura and Mickey,) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marion was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She is a graduate of Midwood High School. Her love of reading led her to work at the Matawan Public Library for several years. She subsequently completed the requisite coursework and an internship to become a licensed clinical counselor for the State of New Jersey. She worked with compulsive gamblers, families of alcoholics and addicted youth at New Hope Rehabilitation Center in Colts Neck and later at the YMCA's Family Counseling Center in Matawan. Marion was known for her friendly personality, stylish fashion sense, her love of Frank Sinatra and for flying kites while vacationing in Long Beach Island each summer with her sisters and their families.
A private funeral mass for immediate family will be held for Marion at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church in Holmdel next week.
