Edward M. Stephan, 64, of Olathe, KS, formerly of Galesburg, died at his residence with his loving family by his side on Thursday, October 13, 2022 after a battle with cancer.
Ed was born on February 19, 1958 in Galesburg, the son of Russell E. and Lillian B. (Farrell) Stephan. He graduated from Galesburg High School. Ed went on to have a 25-year career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, Galesburg, retiring in 2013.
Ed married Connie Kay Hall in Galesburg on October 9, 1982. They were blessed to spend 40 years together. Connie survives; as does their daughter, Brittany (Eric) Vochatzer, of Lenexa, KS; and Ed's pride and joy, his grandson, Myles Vochatzer, of Lenexa, KS. Also surviving is his brother, Bernard (Gayle) Stephan, Galesburg. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl Stephan.
Ed was a long-time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Galesburg; and attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church before moving to Kansas. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father J.O. Hunt Council, Galesburg, and the American Postal Worker's Union. In 2004, he and Connie purchased Harley Davidsons and rode all over the U.S., traveling over 100,000 miles.
Visitation will be Friday, October 28, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am with a memorial mass will follow at 11:30 am. Father Lee Brokaw will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to Costa Catholic Academy.
