Edwin Nieves

Edwin Nieves, 64, of Enola, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Hershey Medical Center following a brief illness. Born Wednesday, February 18, 1959, in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Haydee Cruz and the late Confessor Cruz. He was married to Denise M. (McGowan) Nieves for 38 beautiful years.

Ed is survived by his two children: Taylor Nieves, married to Melinda Wilk, and Olivia Nieves. He is also survived by his siblings, extended family and caring friends.

Ed spent 25 years at Nationwide Insurance, retiring in 2020 as a Director of Human Resources. Through his retirement, Ed enjoyed sharing his insight and heart through advising and volunteering. He was an avid member of the United Way board and a proud recipient of Harrisburg's 100 most influential Latinos. Ed's light and laughter were cherished by all who knew him. He had nothing but pride when showing his adoration and love for his family. His most cherished moments were spent enjoying/playing music, puzzling, playing with his dog, traveling, and laughing with family and friends. He will always be missed.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 225 Salt Road, Enola, PA 17025, with Reverend Robert Yohe as Celebrant. A time of visitation with the family will be held from 10 AM until the time of the Mass on Friday and at the luncheon following the services. Private burial will take place in Buffalo, NY.
