Gary Gene Robinson, 68 of Blossom, Texas passed away at home on February 19th, 2024.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30am Saturday Feb 24th at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Turner and Rev. Susan Leddy officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, February 23rd at the funeral home.
Gary was born in Paris, TX on August 11th, 1955 to Norman Harold Robinson and Bennie Jean Downs Robinson. Gary attended Paris High School where he was a member of the Wildcat football team. Gary played baseball and later played on several softball teams, one of his favorites being the "Buzzards." Gary worked at Seeliger's Garage for 46 years as an auto mechanic. He was a hotrod and drag racing enthusiast all of his adult life. Gary was involved in racing for many years, whether it was racing himself, working on one his many friends' cars, or working at the Paris Drag Strip for Jerry Bob and Lynda Stephens.
Gary was known by many different names such as GFR, Boss, Doc, or Pig Head (by his sister, nieces and nephews,) but whatever name you called him, you always knew that he would be there as soon as he could to help you. Gary loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and eating Sunday dinner at his sister's house. Gary always called his nieces and nephews "cracker head" and you knew he was just playing and loved us all greatly. Gary was a member of First Baptist Church of Paris.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Wayne Robinson.
Gary is survived by sisters: Phillys Gail Rice and husband Don, Annette Bangs and husband Bret; a niece, Brandy Bowerman and husband Louis; a nephew, Dustin Bangs; great nieces, Tayla Niblett and husband Evan, and Paislee Bangs; a great-nephew, Trace Bowerman; and a great-great niece Conlee Niblett.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Seeliger, Mike Viehe, Murray Riddles, Downy Downs, Justin Harris and Joey Partridge.
