Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home - Paris on Oct. 29, 2025.
Mary Etta Bangs left this earth and entered the Kingdom of Heaven Monday, October 27, 2025. Born on December 22, 1940, she will be remembered for a life marked by integrity, faith, independence, and a steadfast devotion to her family and friends.
Meir was born in
Paris, Texas to Stanley Williams Enloe and Vivian Brackeen Enloe on December 22, 1940. She grew up in Paris and attended Paris High School where she met the love of her life, Bobby Bangs. They married on July 31, 1962. Mary Etta attended Texas Tech University and Sam Houston State University. They spent most of their working years in the Houston area, moving back to Paris to retire and indulge in Antiques in 1995. A few years ago, Mom sold her home and business and moved to Kosse, Texas to be closer to her kids and grandkids. She opened up a new shop, where she met old and new friends, sharing her knowledge of antiques and continuing her research of Limestone County pottery.
Meir is survived by her brother, Bloys Enloe and wife, Nancy of
Paris, Texas; her sister, Laura Wright and husband, Donnie of Deport, Texas; and her sister, Carol Campbell of Powderly, Texas; son, Derek Bangs and Cathy of College Station, Texas; daughter, Shelli McNutt and husband, Joe of Kosse, Texas; five grandchildren, Kasey Guthmann and Colby, Kristi Bangs, Trent McNutt and Alexis, Marisa Rose and John Dylan, and Jackie Dean McNutt and Alyvia. Our mom was also the proud great-grandmother of two great-grandchildren, already blessing her life and one more on the way. She also leaves behind her dearly loved nieces and nephews. Mary Etta was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley W. and Vivian Enloe and her brother Stanley D. (Bud) Enloe. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bobby Bangs.
Her love for her family was the abiding center of her life. She rejoiced in the growth of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always with that familiar sparkle of pride in her eyes.
A woman of highest integrity, she knew her Lord and Savior and lived out her faith with conviction and compassion. She was remarkably intelligent-adept in a wide array of fields-and she applied that intelligence generously. Mary Etta never needed much from anyone-she was strong, self-reliant, resourceful, and independent-but she always chose to give. She put others first, reached out with kindness, and offered help without hesitation. Family came first; fairness guided her; appreciation for beauty, craftsmanship and history enriched her life. She was the kind of woman worth knowing, worth remembering-and worth celebrating.
A funeral service in her honor will be held at 10:00 A.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel in
Paris, Texas on Monday, November 3, 2025, with Dr. Marshall Johnston officiating. The family will receive friends at Visitation on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. Trent McNutt, Jackie Dean McNutt, John Dylan Rose, Colby Guthmann, Charles Argabrite, and David Zant will serve as pallbearers.
May we all aspire to live with the grace, strength, independence and loving heart that Mary Etta Bangs showed in full measure.
