Gregory "Greg" Brian Reese died on September 3, 2023 at his home in Dysart. Born on April 27, 1966, in Des Moines, Greg was the son of Ernie and Susan (Gilman) Reese. Greg's family moved to Pella when he was nine years old. He graduated from Pella Community High School in 1984. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. After graduation, Greg lived in Clive, Cedar Rapids, Allison, La Porte City, and Dysart. He worked in broadcasting, educational technology, agricultural extension, emergency management, and retail. On October 21, 1989, Greg married Susan Cobley and together they had a son, David. Greg married Jennifer Hayen on June 25, 2005, and together they had a daughter, Ainsley. Greg loved Boy Scouting, serving as a scoutmaster and member of the Order of the Arrow. Greg shared his passion of Scouting with his son, seeing David achieve Scouting's highest honor, Eagle Scout. Greg also enjoyed camping, kayaking, returning to Pella to volunteer during Tulip Festival,, and refereeing and coaching soccer. Greg strongly believed in helping others whenever possible and was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church as well as Lions Club. Most important to Greg was his family, and while divorced from Susan, continued to work with her and his wife Jennifer to ensure David and Ainsely were raised in a loving and caring environment. He was preceded in death by his parents. Greg is survived by his wife, Jennifer, daughter Ainsley; son David and his wife Brianna with their daughter Lilly; ex-wife, Susan; brothers Scott and Steve, his aunt Mary (Nigro) Gilman, and various cousins and nieces. Please join the family on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at 1:00 PM., at the Dysart Community Building for a Celebration of Life Party. We kindly request people bring pictures of times you shared with Greg (preferably copies the family can keep) and memories to share. Dress casual in any color you like. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the American Cancer Society or Tama County Humane Society.
