Born in Riverhead, NY, James resided in Sayreville for 35 years, was a loyal New York Giants and New York Yankee fan and loved being outdoors with his children; enjoying fishing, crabbing and camping (not glamping). James was an avid cook and a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
James was predeceased by his mother, Cecelia Bopp; sister, Bonnie L. Ryan and his brother, Robert Freeman. Surviving are his loving wife and childhood friend, Gail Ann Freeman; father, James E. Freeman of Southfork, PA; children, Jennifer M. Mandala with her husband William, Melanie M. Sargeant with her husband Keith, Stefanie A. Regan with her husband Duff, James E. Freeman, III., Cassandra L. Freeman, Christina A. Mendez with her husband Luis, Megan M. McCurdy with her husband Patrick and Danielle K. Spano with her husband Paul along with his 17 beloved grandchildren and sister, Georgia Barbato of North Carolina.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm at CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading, NJ 07064.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriner Children's Hospital.
