James Demaris Robinson age 90, of Sarahsville, OH passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 at his home. He was born September 20, 1934 at the home of his parents, the late James Ralph and Waneda "Bonnie" Jones Robinson in Sarahsville.
He was a 1952 graduate of the former Sarahsville High School, drove a milk truck for his father, and served from 1957 to 1958 in the US Army in Korea. He was a 40-year machine operator for Mahle, Inc. and operated a beef farm for over 50 years. Jim enjoyed farming, gardening, traveling to historical sites, grandchildren's events, Shenandoah Band Trips, reading, and watching Jeopardy and the news on television.
Jim was very active in masonry, having been a 60-year member and Past Master of Sharon Lodge #136 F & AM and a 51-year member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge. He was also a member of Guernsey Chapter #211 OES.
On September 12, 1959 he married Pauline Reed Robinson; they welcomed two daughters Peggy Portier of Pickerington, OH and Julie (Allen) Franklin of Sarahsville; two sons James David (Vicki) Robinson of Marysville, OH and Daniel (Jennifer) Robinson of Mt. Sterling, OH. They are also survived by grandchildren Jeremy (Rachael) Franklin, Bradley (Jodie) Franklin, Melissa (Chad) Miley, Taylor (Michael) VanFossen, Dylan Robinson, Amelia Robinson, and Andrea Robinson; great-grandchildren Katie, Lexi, and Bria Franklin, Ashlyn and Coleman Franklin, Axton, Parker, Charlotte, and Delilah Miley; step-granddaughter Stephanie Portier (Brian) Vierstra and their children Riley (Fiancée Elle) Vierstra, Chase (Fiancée Tralie) Vierstra, and Colten Vierstra, Nicole (Kyle) Girton, and Scott (Abbey) Vierstra; step-great-great-grandchildren Natalie, Charlie, and Kylee Girton, Sydney Hennis, Kasen and Kennedi Vierstra; siblings Larry Robinson, Jerry K. (Ellen) Robinson, Dianna (Terry) Hague and Joan Lanning. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; sister-in-law Helen Reed (Chuck) Newberger. The family is blessed also to be expecting an additional great-grandchild and great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Bill Robinson; son-in-law Ralph Portier; sisters-in-law Julia Wikander Robinson, Sally Hill Robinson, and Shelva Wheeler Robinson; brother-in-law Larry Lanning.
The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:45 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. Masonic Services will conclude visitation at 1:45 PM. A funeral service will follow Masonic Services on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Evangelist Jimmie Moore officiating. Funeral services may be viewed live on the Chandler Funeral Home Facebook Page. Burial will follow in Village View Cemetery in Sarahsville, with military graveside honors conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
Memorial contributions may be directed in Jim's honor to any of his favorite charities, Children's Dyslexia Center in Cambridge, St. Jude’s Children's Research Center, Shriners Children's Hospital, or Nationwide Children's Hospital.
