James "Pete" West

James "Pete" West, age 78, of Wesleyville, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022. He was born in Wheeling, WV on November 2, 1943, son of the late Albert and Lydia West.
Pete first worked at Ricardo's Restaurant in 1968. He then took over ownership in 1989, where he became a well-known fixture as a cornerstone in the east side Erie community. Pete enjoyed bowling at Eastway Lanes, golfing at many community courses, and fishing with his friends. He had a very generous heart in supporting many local charities, including Penn State Behrend Athletics. Pete also donated his services to Harbor Creek, Iroquois, and Erie High sports programs. He was a sponsor for many years of the Erie Junior Bowlers.
Pete is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen West; two daughters, Beth Geer (Matthew) and Kristi Kegerreis (Brad); and grandchildren, Alexis, Jacob, Ashley, Courtney, and Sarah; and will be missed by his nieces and nephews. Extended family in Florida, West Virginia and Ohio include, Mark (Diane), Gail (Mark) and Michael, and their families. Pete was one of 10 siblings, Paul, John, Howard, Wesley, Gene, Donna, Bertha, Nancy and Nelda Lou.
Pete lived and breathed Ricardo's. He loved his customers and treated his staff like family. He will be sorely missed.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5151 Buffalo Road (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.) on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 pm until the time of the Funeral Service there at 7:30 pm conducted by Msgr. Daniel Magraw. A private interment will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Behrend Athletics, 5103 Station Road, Erie, PA 16563.
