It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Wayne Borders, who left us peacefully at his home in Groveton, Texas, on February 21, 2025. Born in Houston, Texas, to Wilbur Murray Borders and Dorris Lee Serres, Jeffrey's warm spirit and gentle nature touched the lives of all who knew him.
A proud alum of Groveton High School (class of 1980), Jeffrey was known for his many passions. He loved to cook and spent much of his time exploring the great outdoors. Whether he was searching for unique rocks, arrowheads, or pieces of petrified wood, his enthusiasm for nature was evident in every adventure. An ardent animal lover, he shared an especially deep bond with his faithful dog, Pumpkin, who was his constant companion.
In addition to his outdoor pursuits, Jeffrey was a dedicated gamer, enjoying computer and phone games that allowed him to connect with people from all levels of society. His genuine interest in making new connections enriched his life and created lasting friendships across the online community.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dorris Lee Serres and Wilbur Murray Borders, as well as his stepfather, James W. Brumit. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving family, including his sister, Karen Washington, and her husband Robert of Yoakum, Texas; his stepsister, Sue Mueth and husband, Kevin; his nieces, Courtney and Brittany Washington; his nephew, Carson Washington, along with his wife Jenna; his great-nephews Everett, Elijah, and Declan; his great-niece Sloane; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date, where all who cherished Jeffrey are invited to come together to honor his memory, share their stories, and remember the joy he brought into their lives.
Jeffrey's legacy of warmth, curiosity, and kindness will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace.
