Jerry Keith Wiles, age 89, passed away on June 13, 2025, in Littleton, Colorado, with the same honor and humility that defined his life. Born in Nebraska and raised in Wichita, Kansas, he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University before moving to Minnesota, where he met his beloved wife, Clare. Together, they raised three sons.
After college, Jerry played a pioneering role in the development of early mainframe computers at Univac/Unisys. His career in computing led him to Control Data Corp, where he worked with people across the globe and spent several years living in Belgium. Later, at Datacard, he oversaw operations across Asia and resided in Hong Kong for 3 years. A true entrepreneur, along with his family, he was among the first owners of the Batteries Plus franchise, achieving remarkable success.
Jerry was a lifelong learner and thinker, always seeking knowledge and solutions with logic and brevity. His humility and pragmatism shaped his legacy—not through self-promotion, but through wisdom, actions, and guidance that touched all who knew him. His curiosity drove him to travel extensively, both for work and personal exploration. His smile and sharp wit will be deeply missed.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Clare, and their three sons: Marc, Stephen, and Jeremy, as well as his grandchildren, Matthew and Mary. He is also survived by his brother, Don (Fran) Wiles, sisters, Linda (George) Rosenberg and Kathy (Bob) Lemming. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Edith Wiles.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, Colorado. A private burial service will be held for immediate family later. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home at the same address.
