Hollister –
Jesse E. McGee, 97, widower of Edith Hedgepeth McGee, son of the late Willie and Ellen McGee was born December 11, 1925 in Hollister, NC. He departed this life on July 29, 2023 at his home in Hollister, NC surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Jesse was a WWII veteran and in the aftermath of WWII, he served with the Merchant Marines. He was also a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, and an enrolled member of the Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Mt. Bethel Indian Baptist Church. The viewing/wake is scheduled from 1:30pm to 2:45pm the same day at Mt. Bethel Indian Baptist Church. Burial will follow immediately after the funeral in the Mount Bethel Church Cemetery.
Jesse is survived by his four children: Pam Spresser, Jewel Bissonnette, Deke McGee and Keith McGee; eight siblings: Minnie, Frank, Rosa, Judy, Lee, Joe, Brookey, and Sheila; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

I thank Jesse McGee for raising his daughter, and my best friend, to be the wonderful person that she is. His loving guidance is shown brightly and truly through Jewel. Jesse will be missed but he is surely in heaven with his loving wife, Edie.
