Obituary
Lester J. "Jimmy", Owen IV, 50, of Daytona Beach, FL, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022. He was born in Charleston, SC to the late Lester J., "Jim", Owen, III, of North Charleston, and Gladys (Still) Owen of St. Helena Island, SC.
As a boy, he grew up in Blackville, SC, staying with his aunt and uncle, the late Amelia and Roy Martin, attending Jefferson Davis Academy and Barnwell High School. Later he received his GED. As an adult he was very proud of his excellent carpentry skills, loved sports cars, and enjoyed cooking/grilling for family and friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnwell, SC. He was loved very much and will be missed.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by: his daughter, Summer Katelyn Owen, 14, of Barnwell, and a son; his sisters, Debra O., wife of the late James A. Slack, of Barto, PA, and Kathryn D., wife of Michael Andaya, of Summerville, SC; and a brother, David J., husband of Shelly Owen, of Pearl, MS. He is also survived by cousins, Steve, husband of Cynthia Martin, of Blackville, and Madonna (Martin), wife of Joe Moore, of Columbia. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, O'Dell and Doris (Collins) Still of Blackville, and his paternal grandparents, Lester J. Owen Jr. and Marion (Cross) Owen Cloaninger.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at The First Baptist Church of Barnwell, SC on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Adult and Teen Challenge at teenchallengeusa.org or the ASPCA at aspca.org.
