Johnnie Allen Tarter, 81, of Glasgow, KY passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green surrounded by his family. He was born in Columbia, KY on November 25, 1941, to the late Houston and Elizabeth Dudley Tarter. He was also preceded in death by a stillborn brother Jimmy Tarter.
Johnnie was of the Christian faith and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, drag racing and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Betty O'Brien Tarter of Glasgow, KY; three sons Carlos Tarter, Sr. of Albany, KY, Jimmy Tarter of Columbia, KY and Johnnie Tarter, Jr. (Tammy) of Columbia, KY; three grandsons Carlos Jr., James, and Brian Tarter; a step grandson Elliott Spurlock; five great grandchildren Siddalee, Jack O'Brien, Lillea, Clayton, and Payton Tarter; a brother Kenny Tarter (Cheryl) of Columbia, KY and several other friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Tarters Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00pm and will continue Thursday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
Bro. Robert Adkins will be officiating, and pallbearers will be Carlos Tarter Sr., Jimmy Tarter, Johnnie Tarter Jr., James Tarter, Brian Tarter, and Elliott Spurlock.
