It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph J. Stead, a beloved husband, parent and grandparent, who passed away on Friday May 5, 2023 at the age of 72. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.
Joe was born on November 30, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pa, the son of Lucy and Joseph Stead. He grew up in Philadelphia and attended Roman Catholic High school. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany as a medic during the Vietnam War. He worked almost 50 years as a barber in several shops before his retirement in 2014 from Charles' Barber Shop in Feasterville.
Devoted husband to the love of his life, Bonnie L. (nee Maloney) for 30 years he is also survived by his children Dara Schneider (George), Chrystine Glassey (Wayne), Kristi Loucks (Kyle), Fred Backhaus (Kori) and Molly Stead. He was a proud grandfather and great grandfather to many grand and great grandchildren.
Joseph was also the oldest of three children, his brother Richard Stead and sister Barbara Stead, and an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Joe enjoyed hiking, working out at the gym, going to the beach and taking long drives to nowhere in particular.
Joe will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will remember him for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones for generations to come.
Family and friends are invited to his Life Celebration on Saturday May 20, 2023 at 11AM at New Life Christian Church, 4 Freedom Dr. Newtown, Pa. 18940. This will be followed by a private luncheon for close friends and family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Dunn-Givnish Funeral Home, Langhorne, Pa.
