A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 3:00 pm at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI with a meal to follow. A private burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ken's name may be made to American Cancer Society or Wounded Warrior Project.
Ken was born on March 17, 1939 to Delbert and Jennie (Damico) Humes in Watervliet, MI. On August 26, 1966 Ken married the former Marla Bos and the two shared 45 wonderful years of marriage before Marla passed away in 2012.
Ken proudly served his country while in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War before being Honorably Discharged in 1959. Ken worked at Lakeshore Public School for 55 years, starting as a history teacher and eventually became the high school guidance counselor before retiring in 1999.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Laura Humes and Amy Humes, and twin sister, Brenda Wilson. Along with his wife, Marla, Ken was also preceded in death by his son, Matthew Humes; siblings, Raymond Humes, Russell Humes, and Janice Angelo Humes; and parents.
