Kevin Ray Black, the son of William and Alice (Mehan) Black, was born on April 16, 1962, in Spencer, Iowa. He was raised on a farm outside of Spencer and graduated from Clay Central High School in 1980. Upon graduation he embarked on a career as an Auctioneer serving Spencer and the Great Lakes Area for many years.
In 2001, he moved to Vermillion, SD, where he was employed by Hy-Vee, PrintSource and also was the small business owner of Squeegee Clean Windowbusiness. In 2013 he moved to Sioux Falls and upon his death he was employed by Billion Body Shop as Parts Inventory Manager.
Kevin was a fun spirited soul who was an amazing auctioneer and who also enjoyed “trying” to play the harmonica.
Kevin passed away at his home on Sunday, October 29, 2023, unexpectedly from a cardiac event. He was 61. His family and friends are deeply saddened by his sudden death. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons: Preston Black (Alli) and their son, Brody of Minnetonka, MN and Trevor Black of Phoenix, AZ; Sandy Black of Clear Lake, IA; Sheila Prosser (Gary) of Vermillion, SD, Mary Jo Paulsen (Greg) of Mesa, AZ; his nephew: Collin Prosser (Heather) and their boys:Colton, Camden and Brevin, of Wayne, NE; niece, Paige Wawok (Nick) and their children, Addison and Walter of Valparaiso, IN; nephew, Justin Paulsen, Scottsdale, AZ; his aunt, Kitty Smith of Ruthven, IA; his uncle, Jim Black of Knoxville, TN; his special friend, Emma of Sioux Falls, SD; many cousins, friends and coworkers.
       Kevin will be forever missed
