Larry D. Schwalm, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on February 20, 2024, in the company of his family and pastor.
Larry was born on July 16, 1946 in Pottsville, to Fred and Viola (Unger) Schwalm. Larry graduated from Cornwall High School and went on to earn an Associates Degree in Accounting from Thompson Institute. He served in the Army and started his career in banking and later worked for Lebanon Steel Foundry, Charles C. Loose & Son/Stock Building Supply and as security for Lebanon School District. Larry enjoyed his Lionel Model Trains, jigsaw puzzles, Sunday paper puzzles, concerts and traveling with his wife to their favorite place, Maine. He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church where he enjoyed serving as an usher.
Larry married Karen L. (Bowman) Schwalm 55 years ago this June, and had 2 children, Lynn (Chris) Barnes and Jim (Melissa) Schwalm. In addition to his wife and kids, he is survived by grandchildren Tyler, Ryan, Kayla, Bailey; brother Carl (Judy) Schwalm; sister Susan Claypoole; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Ebenezer Cemetery, with a procession forming at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc. at 8:45 AM. A Celebration of Life will then be held 11:00 AM at Covenant United Methodist Church, Lebanon, followed by a light luncheon in the fellowship hall.
