Lois M Ference

Lois M. Ference, 96, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Born October 7, 1927, in Kent Township, the daughter of Arthur L. and Vera M. (Kempel) Confer. She attended Lena High School. Lois married Raymond Ference on March 4, 1950. He predeceased her in 2011. She worked for Illinois Bell and Amerock, but mostly enjoyed being a homemaker. Lois was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she was in altar guild, WELCA, and was instrumental in the founding and operating of the Thrift Shop. She enjoyed spending time with various card clubs. Most of all she was all about family.
Survived by her daughter, Laura Telling; grandchildren, Shellie Johnson, Anita (Dan) Beard, Carrie (Jordan) Sanden, and Aaron (Angie) Nelson; great-grandchildren, Michael Nelson Johnson, Jacob (Amanda) Johnson, Shanna (Arie) Feehan, Shayla (Robert) Weteska, Bailey (Vivian) Beard, Morgan & Nolan Beard, E.J. Vazquez, Aiden, Cameron and Cara Sanden, Terry Wallis, James Wallis and Ava, Axton, & Arrow Nelson; great-great-grandchildren, Jasper, Bellamy, Oliver and Charles; siblings, Margery Ference, Gary (Sandralee) Confer and Phil Confer. Also predeceased by her parents; daughter, Debbie Nelson; son-in-law, Edward Telling; brother, J. Paul Confer; and brother-in-law, Joseph Ference. The family would like to thank OSF Hospice, especially Amy, Brittany, Mikaya and Shante.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 920 3rd Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service, Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or charity of your choice.
