February 24, 1932 - August 19, 2025
On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Dolores "Dolly" Ference passed away
peacefully at the age of 93 with her two daughters by her side.
Dolly was born on February 24, 1932 to the late Steve and Sophie Mitchell. She graduated from Oliver High School and, after becoming a wife and mother, she attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated first in her class. Upon graduating from nursing school, she began working at Suburban General Hospital, first in the emergency department and later in the heart center. After leaving the hospital, Dolly managed the medical office of cardiologists, Dr. Albert Treger and Dr. Richard Jennings. Upon retirement, Dolly and her beloved husband, Alexander "Al", traveled the world with family and friends, and she delighted in having more time for her daughters and grandchildren.
After her husband's stroke in 2008, Dolly and Al moved to Sherwood Oaks where Dolly spent every single day caring for Al until his passing in 2014.
Shortly after her beloved husband's death, Alzheimer's Disease began its vicious attack, and Dolly faced this horrible disease with courage, strength and grace.
Dolly is survived by her daughters, Lynn Ference and Judy (Jim) Olson, and her grandchildren, Grant (Sabrina) Olson and Sophia (Luke) McGonigal.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, August 25, 2025 from 3-7 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Township, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Sts. John and Paul Church (St. Luke the Evangelist Parish), 2586 Wexford Bayne Road, Sewickley, PA 15143.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations to the American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Avenue, Suite 1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or the Alzheimer's Association, 2835 E. Carson Street, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
