Lois Hanek

Lois Hanek age 90 passed away at Wesley Woods in New Albany in care of the Wesley Hospice. She grew up in Honesdale PA. She brought her children up in Athens OH. Then moved to Michigan and Columbus at the end of her retirement. She was a true life-long learner returning to college many times to earn new degrees. She earned her first Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Home Economics at Pennsylvania State University. She returned to college for a Dietician's degree in the 1970's before attaining her favorite degree in Accounting in the 1980's. She worked for Gulf, Pennsylvania State University and Ohio University's Home Economics Departments; Nelsonville-York Schools; Athens Mental Health Center and other regional healthcare facilities; Hocking Valley Bank; Motyre; WATH; The Athens Cheesebarn; Mollica, Gall, Sloan and Sillery; and TS Trim. Lois was married to her husband, Michael, for 63 years before his death in 2020. She leaves behind a daughter, a son, three grandchildren, and a sister.
