Terry High Obituary Terry Michael High, age 78, of Shaler Township, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, surrounded by family.
Terry was born July 28, 1946, the son of the late Earl and Catherine High. Terry was a 1964 graduate of Avalon High School, where he excelled on the football, basketball, and baseball teams. He earned his undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University, where he also completed the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program. Upon graduating Penn State, Terry served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He worked in sales his entire career, including over three decades with the Dart Container Corp. until his retirement. Always the life of the party, Terry enjoyed nothing more than ice cold beer, Penn State football, and any excuse to gather and laugh with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 52 years, Peggy (Kreitler) High; his son Nicholas (Jaclyn) High and daughter Dana High; his nephews Brian Foley (Stephanie) and David Foley (Amy); and his great nieces and nephew Kelly Shroder, Sarah Foley, Ethan Foley, Abigail Foley, and Hannah Foley. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lou Ann Dolde, brother-in-law Donald Dolde, and great nephew Kevin Foley.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 2-8 PM at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mt. Royal Boulevard, Glenshaw, PA 15116.
In honor of Terry's service to our nation, he will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at a later date where we can honor Terry and express how his life impacted us all.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org), Foundation Fighting Blindness (fightingblindness.org), or Animal Friends (thinkingoutsidethecage.org).
