Major Jimmy Ted Wilkie, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away on December 27, 2023, at the age of 87. He was born on May 17, 1936, to George Washington Wilkie and Ann Smith Wilkie.
Major Wilkie was predeceased by his parents, George and Ann Wilkie, as well as his siblings Clyde, Lynard, Glen, Ralph, and Wren, and his beloved wife Joyce B Wilkie. Despite the heartache of losing his loved ones, Major Wilkie's spirit continued to shine brightly, and he left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Wilkie, with whom he shared 19 years of joy, companionship, and unwavering support. Major Wilkie's legacy lives on through his children: James Edward Wilkie (Janet), Nancy Wilkie Smith (Craig), and Marsha Pursley (Tim). His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Eric and Kelly Wilkie, Chelsea Smith, and Breanna Smith Williams (Ethan).
Major Jimmy Wilkie dedicated his life to serving others with honor and distinction in the US Army. A man of integrity, he proudly served his country, leaving a lasting impact on those who served alongside him. His commitment to duty, loyalty to his family, and selfless contributions to his community will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service to celebrate Major Jimmy Wilkie's life will be held on Saturday January 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm, at Hendersonville Memorial Gardens, 353 E Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075. Visitation with the family January 19, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and January 20th from 11:00- 12:45 pm. A celebration of life service will be held in his current hometown of Yakima, Washington in the Spring.
May Major Jimmy Ted Wilkie rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who went before him, leaving behind a legacy of courage, kindness, and enduring love.
