Marcella K. Derrickson

Marcella K. “Sally” Derrickson, 98 of Arcola, IL formerly of Chicago, IL passed away at 1:40 PM on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Carriage Crossing in Arcola, IL.

Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, IL at a later date.  The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. 

Marcella was born on February 1, 1925 in Topeka, KS.  She was the daughter of Fred D. and Margaret A. (Lenhart) Diehl.  She married Charles Henry Derrickson on September 6, 1944.  He passed away on September 20, 2006.

She is survived by two sons, James Scott Derrickson and his wife Sandra of Humboldt, IL and Edward Derrickson of Des Plaines, IL, six grandchildren, Scott Tiepe and his wife Laura of Boling Brook, IL, Paul Tiepe of Boling Brook, IL, Jeff Derrickson and his wife Melissa of Dekalb, IL, Lisa Muszynski and her husband Matt of Gleen Ellen, IL, Cindi Derrickson of St. Charles, MO and Charles Derrickson of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, AK and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four children, Diane Tiepe, Nancy Scholl, Charles Derrickson Jr. and Robert Derrickson and three siblings.

She was very active with Avenues to Independence in Wheeling, IL, and was a member of the Catholic Church. 

Sally was a beautiful and gracious soul.  She was kind to everyone and will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
