Carlos Galvan Lira

Carlos Galvan Lira, 57, of Arcola, IL passed away at 9:43 PM on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 17, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola, IL. Father Michael Trummer will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Carlos was born on May 18, 1968 in Cadereyta Jiménez, N.L., Mexico. He was a son of Carlos Galvan Paz and Carmina Lira Cabello.

He is survived by his parents, Carlos and Carmina Galvan, and three siblings, Adriana Ruiz and her husband Eliazar, Gilberto Galvan and his wife Darla and Juan Galvan and his wife Hilda all of Arcola, IL, one sister-in-law, Alicia Trejo de Galvan, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ricardo Galvan and one nephew, Eleazar Ruiz.

Carlos attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola. He enjoyed listening to music, playing the accordion and guitar. Carlos also liked watching western movies and spending time with his family, family cookouts being among his favorites.
