Sharon J. Thompson, 84, of Bourbon, IL passed away at 2:23 AM on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Goldwater Care in Clinton, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Bourbon Baptist Church, 626 N. CR 475 E., Tuscola, IL. Burial will be in the Bourbon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 on Saturday at the church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Sharon was born on March 19, 1941 in Bourbon, IL. She was a daughter of Wayne John and Thelma Elizabeth (Jones) Jensen.
She is survived by four children, Beth Rahn and her husband Cary of Bourbon, IL, Brett Thompson and his wife Stephanie of Milton, FL, Barb Thompson and her husband Dr. Leonard Bogle of Fisher, IL and John Thompson and his wife Carissa of Argyle, TX, eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Cortney, Michelle, Zoey, Benjamin, Jackson, Tate and Wyatt, eight great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and one sister, Gloria Ann Plowman of Milton, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one stillborn son, Michael Wayne Thompson, one grandson, Michael Wayne Thompson, one brother, Wayne Eugene Jensen and one brother-in-law, Jack E. Plowman.
For over 40 years, Sharon operated Sharon’s Beauty Shop out of her home, where she provided hair services and formed lasting friendships with her clients. She was also known for her generosity, quick wit, and love of adventure, often driving her Amish friends to various places and across nearly every state, except Hawaii.
Sharon was a member of the Bourbon Baptist Church and participated in the Bourbon Home Extension. She also enjoyed being part of a Women’s Bowling League.
Sharon had a passion for quilting and embroidering. She also loved gardening, flowers, and plants, tending to her own garden – the largest non-Amish Garden in Bourbon. She loved music and singing, especially old hymns and Christmas Music.
Sharon loved her family, cherishing the moments spent attending her children’s activities and the joy of being around her grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Bourbon Baptist Church.
