Marvin Riles Obituary
Marvin Keith Riles was born to the union of Lawrence Riles Jr and Almeter Fox on March 24, 1975, and made his transition on April 3, 2024, in South Bend, Indiana. He was a lifelong resident of South Bend, Indiana attending Marquette Elementary, Dickinson Middle School and LaSalle High School.
On July 6, 2013, he married Nicole Smith of South Bend and together they became a blended family with their children Gerell Riles of Morrilton, Arkansas and Asata McIntosh of South Bend, Indiana. Through the 10 years of marriage, Marvin and Nicole expanded their family to include 3 furbabies (Reggie, LiLo and BOLO) then welcomed 2 grandchildren Royal and Reign. Paw Paw as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren loved to spend time with Marvin in his "shop" watching cartoons and "getting into stuff."
Marvin loved fishing, cutting hair, cooking on the grill, and spending time with his family and friends. Over the years, Marvin held several jobs but found a home as a Custodial Engineer with South Bend Community School Corporation and SSC Services for Education. He enjoyed his work, speaking with children, and coaching wrestling and football, if time allowed. Previous schools who felt Marvin's presence were Brown Middle, Kennedy Academy and LaSalle Academy. He truly enjoyed all of his colleagues and the work he did each day. He was also an employee of Belmont Beverage on Portage, and loved to interact with the numerous, familiar faces.
Marvin leaves behind many loved ones to cherish his memory; his loving wife Nicole, his loving mother Almeter Miller, his children Gerell and Asata, grandchildren Royal and Reign. Marvin's siblings are Nikki Riles of South Bend, Lawrence Riles III of South Bend, Patricia Miller of Atlanta, Georgia, Doris Miller of Atlanta, Georgia Christopher Williams of Cleveland, OH, Tim Bell of Erie, Pennsylvania. Marvin leaves behind Aunts Pam (Donald Hersherberger), Patricia Riles, Geneva Fulwiley, Essie Miller and Aunt Evelean Grantham; Uncles Kenny Riles, and Michael Riles; nephews LaQuince English, Keemon Kendrid, Karom Kizer, Zondre Riles, Denton Smith, Kendall Smith. nieces Almetria Brady, Mykell Jones, Kalyx Ware and Rachel Smith. Family in love George (Jean) Smith of South Bend, David (Dee) Smith of Waterford, Michigan, KiJuan (Michelle) Ware of St. Paul Minnesota. Marvin has many additional Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Friends, who he loved so dearly. A special thank you to Jermaine Miller, Roland Ellis and Rickey Miller.
Family members who preceded him in death are his father Lawerance Riles Jr, his pops Johnny Miller, Aunt Adrene Eskridge, Aunt Mae Sanchez, Uncle Albert Miller, Brother Jerry Williams, Brother Tremaine Riles, Sister Orlene Riles. And Cousin Tino Sanchez.
For those who knew Marvin well and were close, he probably gave them a nickname. The people who loved him referred to him as Red, Marvo, Mr. Marvin, Pops or Uncle Marvin. He will be forever missed, and his memory will live forever in our hearts.
