Maryon P. Hermanowski, Jr., devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the age of 88. Maryon shared an enduring bond of 68 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patricia (Doucette) Hermanowski, a partnership that started in their youth and was destined to last a lifetime.
Maryon was born on May 30, 1935, in New Britain, CT son to the late Maryon P. Hermanowski, Sr. and Anna (Kryzinski) Hermanowski. He was a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict and rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class before his honorable discharge. Throughout his life, Maryon embodied the motto "Once a Marine, always a Marine," proudly displaying his allegiance through hats, flags, shirts, and other Marine Corps memorabilia. Maryon lived a life filled with hard work and dedication. As a machinist and Project Manager, he devoted countless years to Stanley Works in New Britain. In addition, he will be remembered as a talented woodworker, making beautiful creations for home, family and friends, helping in cabinetry. In addition, he had a passion for collecting coins and as an avid reader sharing his knowledge of history with others. His enthusiasm for uncovering the past inspired all those around him.
Maryon's legacy extends beyond his military and professional service. For over five decades, he selflessly served as an umpire for the Town of Plainville Little League Baseball, shaping the lives of many young athletes. He was an active member of the Plainville Senior Center, where he volunteered alongside his beloved wife and engaged in games of pool with friends. His involvement in the Spartans Veterans Athletic Club in Kensington, as a former member and Past President, brought immense joy and camaraderie into his life, particularly through his participation in the softball team.
A masterful caregiver to his wife, Pat, Maryon shared a bond of unwavering love that inspired all who knew them. Together, they traveled the world, embarking on numerous cruises and exploring new horizons, creating treasured memories that will endure for generations to come. They built a beautiful family filled with love and laughter.
In addition to his wife, Patricia Hermanowski, Maryon leaves behind his children, Mark Hermanowski and his wife, Tracey, Edward Hermanowski, Mary Ann Sweet, and Carol Hermanowski; and his grandchildren, Michael Hermanowski and his wife, Katie, Daniel Hermanowski and his wife, Alexis, Melanie Sweet, Allyn Sweet, and Patricia Hermanowski. Maryon was expecting his first great-grandchild in September. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Edward and Lawrence Hermanowski.
