Nadine Maxwell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 26, 2021.
Nadine Maxwell was born to Gertrude Wren and Harrison Walton on January 10, 1931. She attended school in Hutto, Texas, and when her family moved to Austin, Texas, she attended Blackshear Elementary, Kealing Junior High and Anderson High School.
She worked many jobs in her time but it was when she began to work at the Austin State School, she realized this was a position she loved as an attendant taking care of children. She retired after twenty-five years of service. A few years later she began to take care of elderly people that needed her help as a sitter at Seton Hospital. Later she began caring for the elderly in their homes.
We knew she loved us. She had a different bond with each of her children. She was witty and comical at times. She would feed anyone if they were hungry. She never took sides, always stayed neutral. She was our counselor, nurse and teacher. She never complained even when she was sick. She thought of her children before herself. She loved anything that she could do outdoors, (fishing, gardening and barbecuing). She loved country music and westerns on TV and she could cook anywhere and on anything. I never met anyone as strong willed as our mother. She is another MacGyver; whatever she doesn't have, she can find something else and make it work.
Nadine was a wife to four husbands but it wasn't until she met Thomas Maxwell that she knew he was the one. They were married 12 years until he passed away. Now they will be together again.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Maxwell; mother, Gertrude Wren; daughter, Denise M. Russell; son, Brian L. Sistrunk; and sister and brother-in-law, Ruthie Mae and William Mays.
Nadine leaves to cherish her memories, her five children and two daughters-in-law: Robert E. Russell and wife, Debra Russell, of Arlington, Texas, Barbara J. Russell of Adkins, Texas, Linda C. Russell of Austin, Texas, Carl Dell Russell and wife, Wanda Pate, of Austin, Texas, and Bonnie R. Evans of Austin, Texas; twelve grandchildren: Melissa Russell, Idella Russell, Takeitha Sistrunk, Michael L Russell, Arie L. Evans III, Brian L. Russell, Leticia Middleton, Alise M. Evans, Carl Lane, Shawna Lane, Michael L. Russell and Dijion Lane; and twenty-three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
