Mrs. Daisy Bernice Toynes-Williams, - affectionately known as "Momma Daisy" - age 87, of San Antonio, TX, transitioned to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, October 1, 2024, at her residence. She was born November 17, 1936, in Austin, TX, the daughter of the late Charlie Toynes and Neoma Bonner Toynes-Robinson.
She was baptized at a young age at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Lackland Air Force Base Permanent Party Chapel and then to St. Paul Baptist Church, San Antonio.
She enjoyed arts and crafts and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Momma Daisy had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. She is a 1954 graduate of Anderson High School of Austin, Tx. She enjoyed singing in Lackland's Gospel Choir, volunteering at the chapel, working with the youth, participating at the Willie M. Cortez Senior Citizens Center and bowling.
On October 6, 1956 she married Frank Williams, Jr. They were married for 47 years before he gained his heavenly wings on November 12, 2003. They had four children: Avis, Margaret, Joseph and the late Charisse.
Momma Daisy was the "Boss of Everyone!" You can be sure she is still being bossy in heaven with her family. She enjoyed traveling and never turned down a good road trip. Daisy was never scared to take on new opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity. She had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to her positive energy. Momma Daisy had incredible patience, and always made time to help others. She felt it would all come back to us. Her legacy will carry on forever, reminding us that we control our attitudes. We choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us. Family get togethers for holidays and any occasion delighted her.
Momma Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Williams, Jr.; daughter, Charisse Williams; parents, Charlie Toynes and Neoma Bonner Toynes-Robinson; siblings, Arvella (James) Slade, Charles (Josie) Toynes, Eugene "Bob" (Algeree) Toynes and Floyd Toynes; and her great-grandson, Keith Price.
Daisy is survived by two daughters and one son, Avis (Kevin) Hagans of Houston, Margaret Richards and Joseph Williams of San Antonio; her sister-in-law, Algeree; nine grandchildren, Natasha Hagans, Kevin (Arlonya) Hammler, Louis (Shantelle) Hagans, Theresa (George) Roswell, Quinton (Ezra) Cada, Silver (Sterling) Gruters, Zane (Christina) Brady, Malachi Richards and Matthew Richards; eighteen great-grandchildren, Denyce Hagans, Jermiah Hagans, Anahi Hagans-Davis, Taraji Williams-Hagans, Toni Hammler, Kevin Hammler, Cameron Hammler, Kiera Hammler, Amara Hammler, Louis Hagans, Jr., Esham Phillips-Hagans, Jeremy Price, Keandra Price, Catori Zorola, Devin Yates, Silas Yates, Jahyra Brady-Yates, and D'Artagnan Brady; two special nephews, Thurston L. Slade and Russell Toynes. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. https://www.youtube.com/live/Dk2RFvyDXjI?si=QxBgXs8jJFgOC5sw
