Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels Cherry Ridge from Jul. 24 to Jul. 30, 2025.
Nora Ramirez Lazarine danced her way through the pearly gates on July 17, 2025, at the age of 82 years. She was born on May 26, 1943, in
San Antonio, Texas, to Inez Ramirez Sr. and Jesusa T. Ramirez. She married the love of her life, Ralph M. Lazarine on December 2, 1967, in San Antonio. They spent 43 years together building their family, traveling, and living life before his passing. Their love is never ending. Nora worked for Margo's La Mode as a switch board operator and modeled fur coats on the side in her younger years. Her later years were spent at Oak Farm Dairy where she retired in 2007 after 21 years as an accountant. She was a devout Catholic, attended mass weekly, volunteered with the church, and was a member of the bereavement committee. She was an active participant in many senior centers, political rallies, and even protested with her friends. One of her favorite things to do was to read the newspaper and watch the news. She was always up to date on current events. She never missed a historical moment, from funerals to coronations, elections to swearing ins, or the Olympics. She never met a stranger and loved to laugh and socialize with her friends, family, and neighbors. She vibrantly danced her way through life and loved a good tequila and tamale. Nora loved her San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys and hardly missed a game. In fact, she would watch any sport that was on, from basketball to golf. A natural gambler, she would buy squares for Superbowl games, bet on horse and dog races, loved bingo, as well as Lotto and scratch offs. She loved life and tried to travel as much as possible. She loved to cook, eat, and try new restaurants. Always wanting to go out to eat or need a ride. She never learned to drive but was most defiantly a backseat driver. Some would say they were "driving Miss Daisy." Nora loved a good party and Fiesta, always watching the parade and celebrating. You could find her laughing and dancing to music at any party or event. She was a true life of the party. A mother for 60 years to Debbie and Ralph Jr., she loved them with all her heart. Together with Ralph Sr., they had a wonderful life with their children. A mother's love is never forgotten, and she was so proud of them. 40 years ago, she became a "Mamo" to her 6 grandchildren, whom she loved and adored. Her love and affection toward her grandchildren was one of her favorite topics to talk about. Always present for life's events, she often supported them at school, sports activities, and celebrations. She was everyone's number one fan. She always urged anyone and everyone to go to school and educate themselves; to her education was so important. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesusa and Inez; her beloved husband Ralph Sr.; siblings Antonio T. Ramirez, Aurora T. Ramirez, Enrique T. Ramirez, Hortence T. Lucero, and Inez T. Ramirez Jr.; and in-laws Benny Lazarine Jr. and Rebeca B. Lazarine. Her legacy continues in her children Deborah Ramirez-Cotter (Andrew Wangler) and Ralph Lazarine Jr.; grandchildren Jillian Cotter (Kelley), Jared Cotter (Monique), Jordan Cotter, Ralph Lazarine III, Gabriella Lazarine, and Derek Lazarine; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also survived by her beloved siblings, George T. Ramirez (Delores) and Irene R. Zubiate (Miguel); and in laws Antonio Lazarine, Albert Lazarine, Diana Galan, Debora Lazarine, and Mary Lou Lazarine. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you to Ty for loving and caring for Mom/ Mamo in her last weeks on Earth. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Linda May, Misty, Priscilla, and the staff from Sacred Mission Hospice for their care and support of Nora and family.
