The Reverend Nancy Mae Jones Andress was born May 16, 1932 and quietly passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. She was 91 years old.
Nancy was the daughter of Clarence F. and Minnie Alice Erb Jones, and she was born in Twinsburg, Ohio. She was the youngest of four with two sisters, Alice and Blanch, and one brother, William, all deceased.
Nancy was a musician from an early age, accompanying the Bedford High School choir in her teen years. She was a 1954 graduate of Bowling Green University where she majored in Music and Education. She married Jack Andress, deceased, in December, 1954.
Nancy leaves two daughters, Connie Stinson (Dave) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Cindy Butcher (Steve) of Stockton, Missouri. She also leaves four grandchildren, Tim Stinson, Olivia Stinson Dawson, Jonathan Butcher, and Bess Butcher Hochstedler; and seven grandchildren, Sean, Micah, Harper, Lyla, Benjamin, Emmett, and Nora.
Nancy had multiple professions in her lifetime. She taught in public schools in Ohio, Virginia, Texas, and Rhode Island, primarily as a Music Teacher and Choral Director, and occasionally as an elementary school teacher. In 1970, she transitioned to full-time church ministry, serving first at the Middletown Baptist Church in Middletown, Rhode Island, and then at Holmeswood Baptist Church in Kansas City, and finally at the Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City. Her first love was youth music ministry. Her most cherished memories were of the two musical youth groups, The Good News Kids of Rhode Island and The Exclamations of Kansas City, which she founded and led, touching the lives of hundreds of teenagers over the course of decades. She later served as a Chaplain of Foxwood Springs in Raymore before retiring in Bolivar and Stockton.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 11 am at Harvest Assembly in Fair Play, Missouri, preceded by Visitation at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given as a tribute gift in memory of Nancy Andress to Ozarks Food Harvest at ozarksfoodharvest.org. Their address is Ozarks Food Harvest, PO Box 5746, Springfield, MO 65801-5746.

There were too many to begin to mention. Nancy was a very loving, caring, Youth Minister at our church (HBC) and so much fun. We traveled with the Youth on a few mission tours. Nancy was wonderful while riding on the bus. The youth loved Nancy and no one could ever take her place.
