Nancy Louise Klueh passed away on June 3, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Cyril Klueh; devoted mother of Amy Evans and her husband Philip, Margie Fox and her husband Lloyd, Becky Scheps and her husband Lucas; cherished grandmother of Lexi and Kate Evans, Sydney and Ben Fox, Lily, Toby, Luke, and Holden Scheps; and a dear friend to many.
Nancy was born and raised in Alton, Illinois. She graduated from Southern Illinois University and became a dedicated first and second grade teacher. She taught for 16 years in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove before she, Ken, and their three daughters moved to the Baltimore area in 1983. In Maryland, she taught for an additional 7 years in the McDonogh Lower School. She received her Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Loyola University. After an incredibly rewarding teaching career, she retired in 1990. Nancy's commitment to education did not end when she retired. Through her membership in the P.E.O. sisterhood, she continued supporting women in their pursuit of educational goals.
After retiring from teaching, Nancy became an active volunteer at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She served in both the postpartum area and the surgical family waiting room, and she went on to serve as president of the Volunteer Auxiliary Board and as a member of the board of the GBMC Foundation. Additionally, she was very involved with Gilchrist Hospice Care, serving as a member of the Gilchrist Board for 12 years and later as a member of the organization's Advisory Board. During her time volunteering with Gilchrist, she served for many years on the GBMC Ethics Committee, which dealt with family vs. patient wishes, religious issues, and family care matters.
Nancy was a very active member of the congregation at Towson United Methodist Church. Her contributions to TUMC included serving on the Board of Trustees, chairing the Staff Parish Relations Committee, teaching Vacation Bible School, volunteering as the Wedding Coordinator, and helping plan the annual Women's Retreats.
Nancy's dedication to teaching and volunteerism was only outmatched by the countless hours, generosity, and abundance of love she poured into the deep friendships she formed and the strong family bonds and cherished memories she built with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Nancy will lie in-state at Towson United Methodist Church, 501 Hampton Lane, Towson, MD 21286, on Wednesday, June 12th, from 10-11 AM, at which time a funeral service will begin. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Greater Baltimore Medical Center Foundation at gbmc.org/give or Towson United Methodist Church at towsonchurch.org/give.
