Narong Ruangsuwana passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Cherdsri (Charoensanth) Ruangsuwana; children Ratiya Ruangsuwana Collins (Russell), Rangsal Ruangsuwana, Nisara Ruangsuwana McIntosh (Cody); grandchildren Arawan, Russell, Lily, Vanya, Elizabeth and many loving relatives and extended family.
A tinker by nature and a contractor by trade, Narong loved gadgets and had a lifelong passion for tools, hardware and machinery. He was a collegiate water polo player and graduated with honors from Chulalongkorn University. He earned two Master's degrees from the Polytechnic Institute of New York.
A resilient immigrant, he loved his family, Thai country music, his devoted dogs, camping/grilling and on most days, the Yankees, the Giants and the Bronx. He kept close ties with his sisters even though they were often separated by distance: Surang Reungsuwana, Suree Reungsuwana, Ubol Chumpol, Bangonn Burutpat and Rapee Jakkutip.
One of his favorite sayings especially to his children was "studying is a lonely pursuit, but the result is a success." Narong encouraged his children to push themselves in spite of the odds and would drive to pick them up, no questions asked, at any time, to make sure they got home safely. He also loved hanging out with his grandchildren and hearing about their adventures.
Narong is pre-deceased by his parents, sister Ubol and his grandchild, Mila. Narong's humor, tenacity and love for family will forever be cherished by those who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of determination, integrity and generosity.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 17th from 9:30-11am at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. - 732 Yonkers Avenue - Yonkers, NY 10704 (914) 375-1400. Cremation services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the ALS Association.
