Nelson Eugene Dickenson

Nelson E. Dickenson, 84, of Hartshorne, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023. No services are planned at this time; however, for anyone wishing to pay tribute to Nelson, the family suggests a memorial donation to the state or national Dementia Society.
Nelson Dickenson was born on June 4, 1938 in Hartshorne to Joseph Nelson and Mae (Barnes) Dickenson. He grew up in Hartshorne, and as soon as he finished high school, he joined the U. S. Air Force. He served from Sept. 1956 to Sept. 1960, much of that time working in top secret actions in foreign countries. He received his honorable discharge in 1960. He then received his degree and certification in refrigeration, heat and air and taught at the Duncan Vo-Tech for a year and then at the McAlester Vo-Tech for 4 years. While in the Oklahoma City area he met Suzanne Gibbs, and they were married on June 11, 1965. Nelson also operated his own business, Dickenson Refrigeration, Heat & Air for a number of years. He also loved working on his ranch with his cattle and horses, and was a member of the Oklahoma Appaloosa Horse Club. In his spare time, over the years, his 2 favorite past-times were the horse races and playing golf.
Nelson is survived by his wife of 58 years, Suzanne Dickenson, and 2 sons, Eddie Dickenson of Hartshorne and Jay Dickenson of Tulsa.
