"Together Again"
Oneda Elizabeth Hall passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 8, 2024. Oneda was born June 18, 1942, in Millersburg, OH to Albert and Grace Farver Schie. She spent her childhood on a farm in Grey Ridge where she developed her love for horses, animals, gardening, hunting, cooking, and the outdoors. At age 7 she battled spinal meningitis, which put her in a silent world. Her determination, strong will and love of reading helped her overcome the obstacles of being deaf. She learned to read lips and through her love of reading was able learn and teach herself many skills and excel in school. She attended Millersburg Elementary from grades 1-8 and attended McKinley High School in Canton, OH, where she graduated as an honor roll student. She then graduated from Wooster Business school in 1961 and started her career at Holmes Wayne Electric the following year, where she spent 38 years and retired in 2002. After 40 years of silence, she received a cochlear implant in 1989 and finally heard "sound" again. She was also able to read lips and was a great storyteller, with a quick wit.
She married the love of her life, Alva L. Hall "Sonny" on Sept 17, 1972, and they lived on a small farm outside of Killbuck where they raised dalmatian's and provided a beautiful green pasture for retired horses. Oneda enjoyed gardening, crafts, baking pies, reading and writing and the beautiful surroundings of her beloved Holmes County. She lost Sonny on Feb 8, 2009, and missed him dearly until he came calling on her to join him in eternal peace, exactly 15 years to the day. Oneda attended Locust Grove Church and enjoyed her church family and neighbors and held them dear to her heart. She is survived by her daughter Chandra Erin and David Bryan of Naples, FL, grandsons Trey and Tate Carnicom of Perrysburg, OH, Josh and Megan Bryan of Fremont, OH, Garrett Bryan of Louisville, KY and granddaughter Olivia Carnicom of Naples, FL. Also surviving is her brother, John (Sally) Schie of Walnut Creek, OH. Proceeded in death by her brothers William, Harold, Richard Dean Schie, Mary Grace Schie Stringer of Denison.
Services will be held at a later date. Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting alexanderfhinc.com. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Locust Grove Church, 9355 Township Rd 91, Killbuck, OH 44637.
