Paul "Bull" Barnes, 86, of Macon, MO passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023 at the Monroe Manor in Paris, MO.
Paul was born on August 10, 1936 to Raymond and Margaret (Roenfeldt) Barnes in Hartington, NE. He was the eldest of six children. He grew up on the farm which later translated into having a large garden on his Goggin Street property and raising cattle on his farm in Macon.
He married Bonnie Hershey on February 6, 1954 and together they raised three children; Linda, Julie, and Kevin. They also had a stillborn child, Debra Louise.
They moved to Macon in 1957. Paul worked at McGraw Edison, Bloomberg Construction and Stampers before becoming a United Mine Worker until the mine closed. He made many long-time friends through his work at the mine. After retiring from the mine, he worked part time at Lolli's Sale Barn and took care of his beloved wife Bonnie when she became disabled.
Paul was a hardworking man who was dedicated to his family. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, helping to build the former parsonage on Sunset Drive and the Education Building on Crescent Drive.
Paul is survived by his three children, Linda McCarty, Julie Tracy (Glenn) and Kevin Barnes; seven grandchildren, Krista Romanetto (Bryan), Shawn McCarty (Abbi), Daniel McCarty (Stephanie), Breanna McCarty (Jesse), Matthew Tracy (Carmen), Zachary Tracy (Adonia), and Sarah Solis (Julio); and eleven great-grandchildren, Aubrea, Jase, Daxton, Kaitlyn, Brendan, Chance, Bentley, Violet, Maverick, Connor and Bishop. He is also survived by his sister Mary Kramer of Northfolk, NE; soon to be born twin great-grandchildren to Shawn and Abbi McCarty; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie in 2015; his stillborn child, Debra; his parents, Raymond and Margaret; four siblings, Rita, Marcella, Gary and Betty; his grandson, Dylan McCarty in 2021; great-granddaughter, Brynlea Mae; and son-in-law, Michael McCarty.
Paul is greatly loved and will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, MO, with Rev. Eugene Stueve officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon.
